Fifty years ago people would have laughed at the idea of serving pie at a wedding. Nowadays, standard three-tier wedding cakes are far and few between. Most couples are opting for their favorite desserts on their big day—be it cupcakes, cannolis, or better yet, PIE.
We’re guessing most of you indulged in quite a bit of pie this past Fourth of July. We did too. It’s an American favorite, and for good reason. Peter Beckmann founded Beckmann’s Old World Bakery with that same warm feeling of home in mind. To cure his ache for home, he got to work in his kitchen and eventually started selling his homemade loaves to local grocery stores in Santa Cruz.
Fast forward thirty years and Beckmann’s has grown to become one of California’s most beloved bakeries, a real life example of the “American Dream” come to life. Aside from their indisputable passion, Beckmann’s is praised for its natural ingredients, never using anything that has been genetically modified or contains chemical additives. Their pie is naturally good; you can taste it!
