We’ve checked out some of the places our prior newlyweds have ventured, imagined up our own dream vacations, and kept some notes on our own past travel experiences to bring you 10 of our favorite honeymoon destinations. Sicily has the perfect combination of beaches, history, food, and sights—what more could you ask for? We recommend visiting the countryside, which is home to smaller towns like Taormina, Agrigento, Siracusa, and Selinunte. You’ll be blown away by the romantic settings amidst the classical ruins that can typically be found in these areas.

Paris, France

Everyone knows Paris is one of the most amorous cities in the world, which makes it an obvious pick for your honeymoon. There’s so much to do and see; you’ll never get bored. Take a scenic boat ride along the Seine to the Eiffel Tower or Notre-Dame with a glass of wine and a small baguette to fortify you for this incredible experience.

Comporta, Portugal

Only an hour south of Lisbon, Comporta sits comfortably on a peninsula between the vast ocean and rich forest. Few people know about this secret sandy getaway, so you will be guaranteed a private and peaceful trip. There are many intriguing sites to see as well—The Troia Ruins and traditional fisherman’s dwellings are locals’ favorites.

Kyoto, Japan

The sites in Kyoto are simply spectacular. Choosing which picturesque attractions to visit makes this must see destination difficult in the best way. One of Kyoto’s most memorable structures, Kiyomizu-Dera, is a great place to start. There you’ll find the The Jushu Shrine “Love Stones” and Otowa Waterfall, a fitting beginning to your honeymoon. Make sure to spend a couple of nights in Gion Shirakawa, where you’ll get an authentic taste of Japan’s alluring culture.

For those of you looking to take a winter honeymoon, we definitely suggest you head to Zermatt, one of the world’s most legendary mountain resort villages. Santorini, Greece

When you imagine Greece in your head, you are probably picturing the Parthenon or the Acropolis, but don’t forget the beautiful island of Santorini. Known for its white, charming domes, it sits along narrow lanes on a rocky hillside, just above the coast of the island. You can plan to spend time on the beach, in the water, wine tasting, or visiting some of the fascinating archaeological sites nearby. The sunsets and sunrises alone will make this trip worth your while.
