Kennolyn's Story
|
Max and Marion Caldwell founded Kennolyn in 1946 with a vision for a children's camp. They have seen that vision flourish for 60 years as one of the most acclaimed children's camps in the world. Kennolyn has grown to include resident, day and family camps, has spread to 300 privately owned acres and each summer, makes a difference in over 2,000 children’s lives.
“Aunt Marion and Uncle Max” had the foresight to pass the torch years ago. Their granddaughter, Pam Caldwell Nootbaar, is Kennolyn's General Manager and has worked for Kennolyn since 1988. In 1995 she expanded the Caldwell's vision so others could experience Kennolyn through weddings, retreats, and special events. Under her leadership their vision will continue to flourish.
The rest of the Caldwell Family helps Pam keep Kennolyn a family business. Their children, Ken and Carolyn (Ken-n-olyn’s namesakes) and Ken's three children, Pam, Lindsey and Steve sit on the board of directors. Of course the family also relies greatly upon the Camps Director, Andrew Townsend, who has been with Kennolyn for over 20 years. Aunt Marion is retired and still lives onsite. She continues to enjoy her involvement with campers during the summer and rests easy knowing that the dream she and her husband built will last. Kennolyn looks forward to another 60 years. |
