KENNOLYN
HISTORY PHILOSOPHY
Founded in 1946 by Max and Marion Caldwell, Kennolyn has grown from
60 to 300 acres of beautiful Santa Cruz redwoods on two adjacent
properties and is still managed by the Caldwell family. As a result,
the family concept is the cornerstone of camp life. At Kennolyn,
we believe that having FUN is an essential ingredient of LIFE.
We believe in integrity, fulfilling our promises, and meeting our commitments.
We believe that people have an unlimited capacity for love and appreciation
of others and the out-of-doors and that summer camp nurtures that
capacity. And, most of all, we view the responsibility of counseling
as a task of great importance. Parents trust us with their children
and those children watch what we do, say, and how we look and follow
suit. As a result, we expect each staff member to recognize the
impact he or she may have on a child and take that opportunity to
affect them in only the most positive way possible. Kennolyn staff
model appropriate actions, attitudes, and language and maintain
a clean, neat, professional appearance at all times. Any person
who cannot live within the confines of this philosophy for the summer
is not best suited for Kennolyn.
